simple pleasures

... rolling down the car window on a sunny day...when it doesn't have to do with the fact that your air conditioning is not working!! (mine is not)

...chips and salsa on the deck

... socks right out the the dryer

... evening walks around the new neighborhood while there is still daylight

... new shoes

... just because phone calls from good friends

... a husband who understands that shopping is a stress reliever for me and supports my habit

... returning said stress relief purchases ha ha

... opening the mailbox to find your favorite magazine

... bright springy colors

These are life's simple pleasures that I am enjoying and thankful for today. What are your favorite simple pleasures?

I am going to go buy the Blind Side. It is definitely a movie I want in our video collection. That's all. : )

Shh!

I love love love personalized gifts. They are thoughtful and beautiful and expensive! I still love anything with my name on it so I had to find an answer. Boy did I ever....

Vistaprint.com

When D and I were planning our wedding I was searched high and low for inexpensive invitations one day I stumbled upon this website. I signed up for their promotions and began to inundated with e-mails. I probably got 2+ a day. The funny thing was that everything was always on sale or free?

(Kinda like Hobby Lobby. Do not EVER buy anything full price at HL!!! First of all there are 40% off coupons on their website...and you can print as many as you want but only use one per day. Sometimes I go every day of the week so I can purchase 6 different items for 40% off. Secondly HL always has something on sale. If the item you want is not on sale this week, rest assured, it will be on sale in the next two weeks. I find some amazing deals at HL!)

Anywho, I kept getting these e-mails. When we moved I wanted to purchase moving announcements and new return address labels. I finally clicked on one of the promotional e-mails....oh my gosh! Seriously everything was free. I just had to pay shipping. Big whoop.

I bought:
100 postcards -which I designed to be moving announcements
140 H and D return address labels
140 H return address labels
20 personalized notecards -which match the H return address labels : )
1 photo calendar
25 magnets- with a picture of me and D ha ha
1 rubber stamp-with our last name
100 post it notes-that say "A note from H..."
for a grand total of: $15

Yes! $15

I only paid for the shipping.

In an effort to use my new found "powers" for good I now buy Christmas, Birthday, Wedding, and Shower gifts from Vistaprint for FREE. Wouldn't you love to receive personalized post it notes or note cards or a calendar? Yes, please!

Go forth and monogram!

Ah, we are beginning to see signs of spring in Northwest Ohio. It's so refreshing to have sunshine and to turn the heat off.

Last week I spent some time in my hometown with my parents and sisters. When I go home I search for all the creature comforts that I can't find in Findlay...Sonic, Target, Noodles and Co., a waay better TJ Maxx, basically anything I want at my fingertips!

On Thursday it was sunny and 62 degrees. I grabbed my younger sister, hopped in the car, rolled down the windows, hit happy hour at Sonic and turned up the radio.

What was this cardigan sweater clad, pearl earring wearing, monogrammed lady listening to?

Country?

Christian?

Glee?

Nope...

Lady Ga Ga and some teenage girl called Ke$ha?!

I have developed a full on love affair with teeny bopper, pop music. I nod my head like I know the lyrics (which I don't...some of them are quite dirty actually...I know what those innuendos mean!) Turn it up LOUD like I'm hot stuff. And proceed to turn heads in a not so flattering way. ha ha

I am so not cool.

D shakes his head when he gets in the car.

I can't help it. These songs are stuck in my head! Don't want your love. I don't want your revenge. You and me could write a bad romance... Oh, Oh, Oh or I wake up in the mornin' feeling like P Ditty

pray for me. ha ha

D and I went to Cold Stone Drive-Through tonight...in our pajamas.

I have a cold. It was all D's idea.

He is the best.

Goodbye Death Trap

Yesterday we donated D's car to charity.

It was his car highshool and college car.

It had quirks that only D could handle. For example, if you pressed the gas pedal too hard it would stall the car or there was the lack of a rearview mirror, door handle, and muffler situation...you had to get creative to drive under those circumstances.

Basically the car was a death trap.

I worried A LOT.

It finally bit the dust and instead of investing more money into repairs we decided to donate the car to charity. They came and picked it up yesterday.

As much as I disliked that car, I was sad to see it go. D and I had a lot of good memories in that car. As long as I've known him he's had it.

Out with the old and in with the new...TRUCK!!

Last night D and I purchased a new to us truck. It's safe and reliable and filthy. ha ha The dealership is going to have it detailed and we'll pick it up in a few days. I'll post a picture when we get it. : )

Dear loyal readers (well you must be loyal if you have stuck with me this far!),

I have received text messages, e-mails, and phone calls in regards to my lack of a blogging the past few weeks. ok ok I'll blog. : )

D and I bought a house. We closed on February 19th and have been happily unpacking since. To be honest we had a terrible experience! Our realitor was worthless-those of you that live in Findlay have been warned!!-the sellers were difficult, and last minute we almost didn't close! In the end we are extremely happy in our new home so at the moment I'll say the past is the past.

How did we celebrate after closing? A fish fry of course! We closed at 4 and were at the fish fry at 5.

I have quite a few posts lined up for you in the coming weeks. I'll be showing you before and after pictures of the house and talking about decorating with expensive taste....while on a budget. I am currently going through a quarter life crisis which is involving Lady GaGa and Taylor Swift (yeah, that should be an interesting post...). I also have some in-the-know tips and tricks for great gift giving and party throwing. Not to mention my daily antics.

Hold on people, I am back to regular blogging!
