success!

Dinner was great! Here's a tip: make sure you buy high quality blue cheese dressing..I would go as far as to add extra crumble blue cheese.

it's gonna be great!

This evening I am trying out a new pizza recipe for dinner. D loves loves loves pizza. It's an (unhealthy) staple in our household. Recently I have discovered a new love of buffalo chicken. I like the dip, wings, etc. So tonight I am marrying the two and making Buffalo Chicken Pizza. oh yeah!

Ingredients:
1 pizza crust (I got mine from a local bakery, you can use the pre-made ones from the grocery, or make your own)
1-2 chicken breasts
Franks Red Hot Sauce-use to suit your tastes
2 tablespoons of butter
3/4 cup of blue cheese dressing
1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese (we are adding bit of shredded pepper jack cheese to the mozzarella)

1.) Cook your chicken breasts. I am going to boil mine.
2.) While cooking chicken, prebake your pizza crust in the oven. Since mine is already a pre-baked crust I am good to go.
3.) Cut the cooked chicken into bite sized pieces. Saute in butter and hot sauce.
4.) Spread the blue cheese dressing onto your pizza crust. Coat evenly.
5.) Add chicken/hot sauce mixture to blue cheese coated pizza crust.
6.) Top with mozzarella (and pepper jack) cheese.
7.) Bake at 350 until crust and cheese is golden brown-ish.
8.) Serve with celery and ranch or blue cheese dip.

yum! I will post pictures and let you know how it turns out.

After our *keep your fingers crossed* delicious dinner D and I are headed to the movie theater to see Angels and Demons and THEN are coming home to be nerds and watch a previously DVRed special 'Debunking Angels and Demons.'

Tomorrow D is participating in a real live barn raising. um...that's right in 2009. that's right my dear darling ..... skinny husband..... I'll let you know how that goes. hehe

For a year I have been lamenting about my stolen ipod. I earnestly believed that my darling pink ipod was taken from my car by the valet parking attendant while D and I were on our honeymoon. That was until my mom called me on Saturday to tell me my sister, M, found it in my old/her new closet.

*enter Halleylujah chorus*

yay!!

So now that my music source is safely back in my hands, I will share my summer playlists with you. Friends, my husband thinks I have multiple, multiple personalities when it comes my music choices. I frequently surprise, scare, him with my knowledge of lyrics and song selections. enjoy.

Please excuse the lack of indentation and spacing in the previous blog post. The blog gods are punishing me because I don't post often enough. boo. Actually I just can't figure out how to do it.

eye of the tiger

It's 10am. I am blaring Eye of the Tiger while I:
a.) exercise like a maniac
b.) furiously fill out job applications
c.) clean out my fridge
you guessed it..... c.) clean out my fridge.
Oh I loathe this task. I have been putting it off for weeks, yes weeks, in hopes that D will take pity on me and clean it on my behalf. No luck. ugh.
So this morning around 8:30 am I began my project. 8:30 am is too early to deal with crusty tartar sauce jars, moldy green beans, and (my fav) 2 week old seven layer taco dip. The smells are not something you want to wake up to, trust me.
Now, my method of refrigerator cleaning involves non-latex cleaning gloves, heavy duty garbage bags, paper towels, and 409. I pitch anything and everything questionable...without any guilt. I know. I'm a badass right? : )
There's a new rule at my house. The fridge gets wiped out and leftovers tossed every Sunday. No questions asked. Hopefully D will take his new chore seriously.... hehe I'll even play Eye of the Tiger for him.

hmmm.... ?

My brother is graduating from Case Western Reserve on Sunday. I am so happy for him. I remember how relieved I was when I was d o n e with college! D and I will be travelling to Cleveland for the graduation and we are now searching for a meaningful gift at the last minute.

Hey! Don't judge! I've been salmonella ridden, job searching, partying hosting, and did I mention salmonella infested? yeah

Anyway during my search for a meaningful, just right, perfect gift I have stumbled upon this:

THAT my friends is a beer holster.

"In the spirit of the Wild West, this holster keeps his beer ready for a quick draw whenever the need arises. Made of rugged leather, it snaps onto any standard belt and the adjustable nylon strap wraps around the thigh for additional support. A fun accessory for parties and tailgates, it also makes a convenient holder when he needs his hands free for grill duty. Holster fits a 12 oz. can or bottle." $50
That's right, you can wear your beer. Golf with your beer. Play corn hole with your beer. Grill with your beer. You can even keep a spare one on your body just in case ; )

um....no

My brother will have to settle with money in a card, a diploma frame, or a desk accessory that is related to his future career field. Sorry brother.

kabob party = success

This morning D is at softball practice and I am 'recovering' from last night.

We had an absolute blast! Our friends were so much fun and helpful in the kitchen. Oh my gosh, I cannot tell you how much it meant to me to have them volunteer to help devein shrimp (even though we were not quite sure it was the actual vein we were de-veining), cut veggies/fruit, and I even had someone volunteer to help clean up (although I had to decline because it was a BIG BIG mess :) It made me feel very thankful.

For dinner we had shrimp, chicken, steak, bell pepper, mushroom, tomato, and pineapple kabobs. yum. I was a bit nutty and made all chicken kabobs, all shrimp kabobs, etc. instead of mixing the veggies, fruit, and meat because I didn't want to contaminate the veggies with meat juice. Having salmonella has completely changed my outlook on food preparation and safety....to the extreme. An annoying extreme. However, I am only comfortable eating food it has been prepared using extreme safety precautions.

Anyway, the night was great and I heart my friends. Now I am tidying up my giant mess of a kitchen and waiting for D to come home so we can hang out.

Weekend Plans

Hello! It's FRRIIIDDDAAAY! yay!

Here are my incredibly exciting weekend plans.

Friday: Today I am running errands during the day and partying at night. ha. This evening D and I are going to a local wine tasting and then having some friends over for a kabob party. What is a kabob party you may ask? Well, it's a party where each guest brings a vegetable, fruit, or protein to add to a kabob. Brilliant right?

Saturday: We don't have any Saturday plans yet. Maybe a movie? I'd love to see Ghosts of Girlfriends Past- D if you are reading this ; )

Sunday: Calling our mama's to wish them a Happy Mother's Day. Church x2-Mass at 10am and non-mass Church at 11:25. Lunch. Catching up on our Netflix selections. Chillin'

Have a great weekend!

not your average mouse....

um, a few nights ago THIS ran across my living room floor.

In case you can't quite make out that beastly creature in the box....it is a mouse. Oh my gosh.
In my tidy, clean (professionally cleaned I might add), clutter free, beautifully decorated apartment there was a mouse. A brave mouse. That flaunted himself by running in front of my tv.
I have never screamed, make it, squealed so loud in my life. D came running from the back bedroom where he had shut himself in to watch Bill O'reilly. Do you have any clue what it takes to make my husband respond in a quick fashion when he's watching Bill? a lot. Plus, do you have any idea what it takes for my husband to take me seriously when I scream while I am also watching tv? It's kinda like crying wolf.
I tend to have big, loud reactions to mundane tv shows and announcements. For instance when Josh and Anna Duggar announced they were pregnant on 18 Kids and Counting (I am obsessed with the Duggars by the way, that is a totally another post. Just you wait) I screamed and maybe peed my pants a little. What can I say I am easily excitable.
Anyway, D came to my rescue. He chased down and trapped the mouse and took it far far away from my house. All while I squealed ridiculously like a 12 year old girl. It was honestly the only reaction I could have aside from jumping up and down while flaying my arms.
In the end the mouse was caught, the house was searched for possible points of entry, and the landlord was called.
Although I now sleep with one eye open.

Watch out mr. mouse.....
