Husband Appreciation Day

Today as D walked out the door in a Blues Brother t-shirt instead of his typical white (Kirkland Brand from Costco : ) undershirt because all his undershirts are dirty and I had too much fun over the weekend to do laundry I thought about what a hardworking great, non-complaining husband he is.

For example, this Sunday I left the umbrella in the patio table while I ran errands. When I came home the umbrella was on the ground and the glass in the patio table was shattered, please keep in mind that I had the forethought during the hail storm to bring this glass in to save it....and 4 days later on a sunny day I left it out to be broken. bummer. My sweet husband swept up the glass, shop vac-ed the patio and put everything back together without saying a negative word to me. He could have scolded me or been upset but he wasnt.

Today D is wearing a mismatched undershirt and is probably sore because I "helped," not so much, him mulch the garden beds in 90 degree heat. Pretty much I wimped out after an hour and a half and he stuck it out mulching our landscaping and cleaning up the yard.

Now, I'm not writing this post to make myself sound bad (doing a good job though! ha!) but D really goes out of his way to care for me and our home without lamenting, day in and day out. I can't tell you how many times a day he askes me if he can get or do something for me.

I know I'm not the only one, from personal experience I can brag on my friends husbands and the ways that they go out of their way to care for their families, homes, and loved ones but I want to leave that up to you....

I declare today Husband Appreciation Day

Leave a comment bragging about the great things that your husband does. You would not believe how many of your husbands read this blog : )

It's nice to feel appreciated and publicly thanked for the extra effort that you put in, so let your hubby's (and everyone else) know.

Thanks D!

summer lovin'

love, love, love me some Diet Coke (aka DC)

Given any excuse or opportunity I will visit McDonalds for a $1 drink

For example, today I picked up mulch at Mendards (another thing/place I love, love, love) around 7:30 am...what was my reward?

A large DC of course!

: )

Tomorrow I will mulch the flower beds

....and hit up McD's for a drink, I'm thinking 1/2 lemonade 1/2 unsweetened iced tea

Drink up!

easy, breezy

It is warm and breezy here in northwest Ohio these days....and rainy but we'll ignore that!

I'm sporting quite the sunburn as a result of yardwork. D will atest that I am a sunscreen fanatic and typically am lily-white all summer long, guess I'll be looking more sun kissed this summer! ha! You know, I've never been an outdoorsy girl but I have come to love taking care of our landscaping and yard. As a result that sunburn and tan I was talking about, stops above my wrists because of yard gloves. It's very attractive, let me tell you.

Lately I have zero interest in cooking. Tonight's dinner? Cheese, crackers, hummus, fruit, summer sausage, and lemonade on the patio.

This weekend our friends will join us to install my new sliding patio door (!!!) and enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, and s'mores. If you are my friend and you are reading this, you are invited. no joke.

k, that's all I got for now.

tales from 5 year old parcochial students...

Today I had the pleasure of conducting 4th quarter testing with Kindergarten students at our local Catholic school. I pulled students out into the hall individually and asked them several questions about religion curriculum....lets just say that a 5 year old's perspective of abstract religious concepts = me stifling back giggles.

For example:

Me: What special food do we eat during mass?

5 year old: blood....and...and...and

Me: That's right, wine, and ?

5 year old: and...sandwiches...blood and sandwiches

That's right folks, communion = blood and sandwiches

: )
