tacky or no?

I ran out of tissues today....

Is it tacky that I ran errands today with a roll of toilet paper in my Coach purse?

Fever, 3 ways

Oh today was lovely in Ohio. 50 degrees and sunny. I am still recovering from this illness and have been cooped up in the house for days. The sunshine today was just what I needed.

I seriously sat in my driveway (because it was the only snow free surface on our property) for 25 mins soaking up all the Vitamin D I could get, pretending it was spring.

I still have a bit of a fever...Bieber Fever! ha ha ha Yes, I am blushing while I write this. shameful. However, last night on Glee they did some Bieber music and I am swooning! How dare they have a song on the show and not sell it on Itunes! So I downloaded the orginal instead..."baby, baby, baby, oh!" or as we like to sing it at the H/D household "halley, halley, halley, oh!".... ok, now you all think less of me...don't judge!

: )

I have spring fever, bieber fever, and a real fever.

love,
h

Where is the love?

Happy Valentines Day!

D and I don't typically celebrate Vday. We don't go to fancy dinners or buy chocolates, but for some reason this year we decided to treat ourselves to a Valentines Day dinner at are favorite restaurant The Revolver. I stinkin' love the place. The menu changes daily, it's local food, and the wine pairing are exceptional. I'm drooling just thinking about it....

However my immune system had other ideas for my big night out, and weekend for that matter. I have the flu. (insert sobbing and gnashing of teeth here) Friday night D and I trekked to Urgent Care for what we thought was a sinus infection. 3 days later, lots of medicine, and a bazillon tissues later I haven't made any progress and am feeling worse. (here come those sobs again)

So spending an evening at my favorite, expensive, restaurant is out.

boo!

Instead my sweet husband is bringing home a heart shaped pizza and we are going to watch Big Love amidst my pile of tissues while he rubs my feet. That's love.

Enjoy your chocolates and fancy dinners and loved one's today!

xoxo,
h

p.s. We rescheduled our dinner at the Revolver for this coming Saturday....why?....because we are celebrating 1 year owning and living in our house! : )

cleanin' house

If I were to be completely honest, I would be mortified if I had unannounced guests come to visit our house right now.

Truth: I am not disciplined enough to keep my house presentable, neat, and tidy on a regular basis. I am good at playing catch up once it's really bad, but day to day, we live with disorder.

So in an effort to "do better" I have come up with a new mantra....

work smarter, not harder

For example, in a 45 min time frame I can wash a load of laundry, dry a load of laundry, clean a sink full of dishes, and jog 3 miles. How!? I switch over the wet laundry to the dryer, start the dryer, get a new load of clothes goin' in the washer, load/start the dish washer, and lace up my shoes. So that in the time it takes me to exercise, I am accomplishing multiple tasks. Simple enough.

Another smarter, not harder tactic I'm employed is placing a small empty tote bag by the garage door. It's my return's or errand running bag. When I've got something I need to return to the store I drop it and the matching receipt in the tote bag. I let the bag accumulate multiple items and then I grab it to run errands.

Other things that make my life simpler include keeping trash bags, a roll of paper towels, and cleaning supplies upstairs, on the main level, and in the basement. This saves me from running around when I need to clean the bathrooms, etc.

Ok, so this is not rocket science....any other techniques or tactics that you use to work smarter, not harder?

I'd love to hear!

how many words rhyme with "sundae"

Tonight I decided to meander over to McD's for a little late night, D's out at a work dinner, I'm a single lady treat....

H pulls up to the drive thru, "I'd like a carmel sundae please"

Drive Thru Lady: what size?

H: uh...the dollar size...isn't that the only size there is?

Drive Thru Lady: the carmel frappe comes in two sizes and isn't a dollar

H: carmel sundae

Drive Thru Lady: fruit and yogart parfait?

H: carmel sundae

Drive Thru Lady: ok

hahahaha

What is the moral of the story?

I probably didn't need that carmel frappe, fruit and yogart parfait, or carmel sundae....ok?

nervous!!!!

I signed up for my 5k!!

oh man, can we talk about the nerves associated with doing this?

What if I am the last person to finish?

What if I take too long and they close the course, while I am still on it?

What if I have to pee while I'm running?

What if something terrible happens and it takes me like 2 hours to run 3.1 miles? embarrassing...

I will be running, make that jogging, in Toledo's Glass City Marathon on April 17, 2011.

omg, omg, omg I can't believe I am doing this!

Here we go!

oh the weather outstide is frightful...

like as in, 5 more inches of snow, frightful.

D and I are venturing out this evening to stand in a tent, in a parking lot, in the snow, to listen to Blues music at Findlay's Winter Blues Festival. Yep, I love my husband a.l.o.t. D really enjoyed this event last year and has been looking forward to it for a full year. So I will bundle up and and tap my toe and pray my lips and fingers don't turn blue in the cold. ha ha

the sweetest gift my husband ever gave me

....was a glue gun.

Now that's not saying that I haven't recieved nice or romantic gifts from the man. On the contrary. How about the year he listened months in advance (we're talkin August) and remembered I wanted a NorthFace jacket for Christmas? Or on our wedding day when we bought and had sent over a Coach purse. looved that! Our first married Christmas he got me a gorgeous, monogrammed, comfy Restoration Hardware robe. Those are all wonderful, thoughtful gifts, but I am so lovin' the fancy glue gun he got me this past December 25th.

You all know you are old and married and not cool when you swoon over a glue gun, right?

This week I have made a wreath, felt flowers, and party decorations. My new glue gun is fast, has multiple gages, and comes with a stand. good gracious.

I am stunnin with my love glue gunnin' - lady gaga

Maybe D will get me a sewing machine for Valentines Day!?

ice ice baby

Boy do we have a storm 'abrewin in Findlay. It is snowing and sleeting and icing like c r a z y.

My car got stuck in my flat, straight driveway. Poor D is outside this very minute, being pelted with snow while digging it out. As a consolation I made rice krisipies....think it's an equal trade? : )

Ohio gets a sterotype for rushing to the store to "stock up" at the mention of snow, this storm is no different. I stopped by the grocery store Monday evening to pick up dinner supplies only to be surrounded by empty shelves and swarms of people. That's right, no milk, bread, eggs, or water. I even read in the paper that 2 Marathon gas stations were completely depleted of fuel. I am not kidding. People are acting like it's the apocalypse out there!

Me?

I am content sitting with my Nyquil blanket by the fire at home. I've got plenty of craft projects to keep me busy, not to mention schoolwork (obviously that comes second to crafts). We have the generator and bottled water just in case. I've kinda got my fingers crossed that D will get a snow day tomorrow!? Does that happen in real adult life? It would be exciting!

Stay warm.
